Sridhar,
27, allegedly murdered his elder brother — Basavaraj, 32 — over a family
dispute at their home near Mahanta Math in Lingsugur, Raichur district.
Basavaraj
would often visit their mother while intoxicated. On the day of the incident,
an alcohol-fuelled argument escalated, and Sridhar allegedly suffocated his brother with a pillow.
To conceal
the crime, Sridhar allegedly hung Basavaraj's body from a ceiling fan using a
saree to stage a suicide, and broke the room latch to support the false
narrative.
He then
took Basavaraj to the taluk hospital, claiming he might still be alive.
Doctors, however, confirmed he had died before arrival, raising suspicions.
Basavaraj's father, Vasudev, lodged a complaint with Lingsugur Police Station,
prompting an investigation.
A team led by DYSP Arunangshu Giri, Dattatreya Karnad, and PI Hosakerappa inspected the scene. During questioning, Sridhar's involvement came to light, and he was taken into custody. Further investigation is underway.
