Eight distinguished individuals from across Karnataka have been honoured with Padma awards

Eight distinguished individuals from across Karnataka have
been honoured with Padma awards this year. Padma Bhushan was awarded to
centenarian Shatavadhani R Ganesh (Arts) for his lifetime dedication to
cultural enrichment and artistic excellence.
The Padma Shri went to seven individuals: Anke Gowda M
(Social Work), founder of Pustakamane, India’s largest personal free-access library;
SG Susheelamma (social work), founder of Sumangali Seva Ashrama; Prabhakar Kore
(Literature & Education), leader of the Karnataka Lingayat Education
Society; Shashi Shekhar Vempati (Literature & Education), former CEO of
Prasar Bharati; Dr Suresh Hanagavadi (Medicine), founder of the Karnataka
Hemophilia Society; TT Jagannathan (Trade & Industry, posthumous), former
head of the TTK Group; and Shubha Venkatesh Iyengar, recognised for her
contributions to social work and public service.
