Eight distinguished individuals from across Karnataka have been honoured with Padma awards this year. Padma Bhushan was awarded to centenarian Shatavadhani R Ganesh (Arts) for his lifetime dedication to cultural enrichment and artistic excellence.

 

The Padma Shri went to seven individuals: Anke Gowda M (Social Work), founder of Pustakamane, India’s largest personal free-access library; SG Susheelamma (social work), founder of Sumangali Seva Ashrama; Prabhakar Kore (Literature & Education), leader of the Karnataka Lingayat Education Society; Shashi Shekhar Vempati (Literature & Education), former CEO of Prasar Bharati; Dr Suresh Hanagavadi (Medicine), founder of the Karnataka Hemophilia Society; TT Jagannathan (Trade & Industry, posthumous), former head of the TTK Group; and Shubha Venkatesh Iyengar, recognised for her contributions to social work and public service.
