Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar criticised the Karnataka government over
alleged corruption in Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), citing the suspension of
three civic employees as evidence of a deepening crisis.
Speaking to reporters, he said the three women staff were suspended for
allegedly misusing and siphoning off public welfare funds. Wadiyar claimed the
incident highlighted the lack of accountability within the civic body.
He blamed the state government for the situation, pointing out that the
absence of an elected council had left MCC affairs in the hands of officials
acting “according to their whims and fancies”. He also condemned the delay in
holding elections to the city civic body, saying it had contributed to
large-scale misappropriation of funds.
The MP urged the government to focus on immediate reforms within the MCC
rather than proceeding with plans to constitute a Greater Mysuru City
Corporation.
He further called on the state government to heed objections raised by residents, shopkeepers and traders against concrete development works atop hills, saying such projects were being opposed under various government schemes.
