A Revenue Department official from Gadag in Karnataka has written to President Droupadi Murmu seeking euthanasia, alleging harassment by his senior officers and non-payment of salary.
In a letter addressed to the President, Yogesh Kurahatti, 43, a village accountant from Dambal in Gadag, claimed that his salary for November and December 2025 was withheld without justification, despite his 10 years of service in the department.
Kurahatti, the sole breadwinner of his family, said his mother suffers from mental illness and he too has health issues. He also lives with his wife and two children. He said that it extremely difficult for him to sustain his family’s livelihood as his salary was not paid.
In the letter to Murmu, Kurahatti alleged that senior officials have been issuing repeated notices without valid reasons and subjecting him to mental harassment. He claimed that he has diligently discharged his duties, including work related to the Revenue Depart-ment’s e-Pouthi initiative (which deals with land records), crop-cutting experiments, Aadhaar seeding and other departmental responsibilities.
He further alleged that despite working under immense pressure to implement several government schemes such as MGNREGA, the harassment has continued unabated. According to him, he has also been accused of failing to submit daily work diaries.
Gadag Deputy Commissioner CN Sridhar, who also heads the district Revenue Department did not re-spond to Salar News’ calls.
