The Andersonpet police raided a unit where adulterated milk was being produced and labelled as Karnataka's Nandini brand and the brands of other companies. The police rounded up 8 people found at the unit on Thursday.

The arrested are Venkateshappa, 50; Balaji, 35; Dileep, 25; Balaraj, 33; Manohar, 28; Karthik, 29; Manoj, 22; and Manjunath, 55. They were remanded to judicial custody.

Kolar SP Shivanshu Rajput said the police seized 350 packets of 500-gram Nandini milk powder, 40 packets of 1-kg milk powder, 12 packets of millet milk laddu, seven jaggery packets of 500-gram capacity, 900 packets of palm oil, two mixer grinders, 51 milk cans and two four-wheelers.

SP Rajput said milk powder, palm oil, and chemicals were used to make the fake milk. "It was supplied to dairies in Bethamangala," he added.

The SP said that an investigation is on to find how milk powder that is not meant for sale outside the Nandini organisation and nutrition packets supplied to anganwadi centres came into the hands of the accused.
