A father allegedly pushed his daughter into a prostitution racket driven by greed. The victim, a minor who managed to escape from captivity, has filed a complaint with the police.

The incident was reported from Birur in Chikkamagaluru district. Her ordeal began when she visited her grandmother’s house in December. 

Accused Bharat Shetty developed close ties with the girl’s father. Claiming that he would offer financial assistance, Shetty’s  held discussions with the father and invited both the father and daughter to his house in Mangaluru. 

The day after reaching Shetty’s house, he told the minor that four to five men would come and that she would have to engage in sex with them. Despite her repeated pleas, they raped her continuously. The minor said that they raped her again over the next few days. 

She was allegedly subjected to repeated sexual assaults over a period of time. She eventually managed to escape and approached the police to lodge a complaint.

The police have arrested 12 people, including the victim’s father, her grandmother, and Shetty.
