A newly married woman renounced her marriage after learning that the groom was accused in several rape cases. She removed her Mangalya in the presence of the groom, her parents and the police personnel.

The woman eloped with the accused Sandeep in several rape cases on Saturday and married him at a temple in Chintamani on Sunday. They were both from Chikkaballapur district. As the couple were returning home, her parents intercepted their car and took them to the Women's Police Station in Chikkaballapura where dramatic scenes unfolded.

At the station, the newlywed bride was greeted by another girl who said that she had filed a POSCO case against Sandeep in 2024. The bride’s parents also told her about another POCSO case pending against Sandeep at Ramamurthy Nagar station in Bengaluru.

They showed her dozens of photographs in which the accused Sandeep was found in a compromising pose with mostly minor girls, said police sources.

Yeshawanth, Inspector, Women’s Police Station Chikkaballapur, said there were many pending cases against Sandeep who claims that he works as a front office executive with a reputed company in Chikkaballapura. However, he works as a driver with a private company.

In complete shock, the girl said that she was renouncing the marriage and agreed to go with her parents.
