Mysuru, 24 Dec

Tayavva, a five-year-old tigress, died at Mysuru Zoo in the early hours of Wednesday. The tigress, aged four years and ten months, had been suffering from a haemoprotozoan disease and was undergoing treatment for the past ten days.

Rescued by forest department officers in 2021 and rehabilitated at the zoo, Tayavva’s health deteriorated overnight, leading to her death at 3.45 am, according to the executive director of Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens.

Her passing marks a sad loss for the zoo and conservation efforts.
