Raichur, 13 Dec

A youth belonging to a reputed family in Raichur district has been booked in 32 cases, including nine cases under the CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) law, for allegedly watching obscene videos.

Police were shocked after discovering the youth’s “sexual obsession,” as he was constantly watching obscene videos.

During an investigation by cyber officials, the illegal activities of this youth came to light.

When the email ID and mobile phone number linked to the website were examined, the youth’s actions came to the attention of authorities.

After watching obscene videos, the youth used to delete browsing history on his mobile phone. However, the videos he watched were recorded on the website’s server. After checking the evidence, the police registered cases against him.

Uploading, sharing and viewing images and videos involving the sexual exploitation of children is illegal as per CSAM. Technology companies and law enforcement agencies are working continuously to curb this menace.

As per CSAM, in case of a first offence, imprisonment of up to five years and a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh may be imposed. If a subsequent offence is proved, the law mandates up to seven years' jail and a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh.
