With winter tightening its grip on Karnataka, children in Kalaburgi have begun lighting small fires and gathering around them to stay warm against the biting cold. The region has seen a sharp drop in temperatures over the past few days, forcing residents—especially children—to find simple ways to cope with the chill.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kalaburgi recorded a maximum temperature of 31°C, while the minimum plunged to a frigid 1.2°C at 8:30 am on Saturday. The weather is expected to remain partially cloudy, with cold conditions likely to persist across the district.

As the cold wave intensifies, groups of children were seen huddling together near makeshift fires early in the morning, using the warmth to continue their routine activities before heading to school or helping their families.
