Mysuru, 3 Nov

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directed Mysuru district administration officials to prepare a blueprint for comprehensive development of ‘Greater Mysuru’ without compromising on the City’s “prestige and culture”.

On a visit to his home district, Siddaramaiah also unveiled a statue of former chief minister D Devaraj Urs at the new Deputy Commissioners office in Mysuru and said there was no instruction from the High Command about a leadership change in the State.

Chairing the first meeting of the Greater Mysore City Corporation held at MCC office in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah said “a scientific plan must be formulated with foresight for the next 15-20 years”.

He said Mysuru should not face issues like Bengaluru in areas such as traffic, solid waste management, transportation, underground drainage and drinking water.

“They must develop a peripheral ring road as the city has been expanding rapidly,” he remarked.

The meeting comes after months of debates over the demands for creation of a ‘Greater Mysuru City Corporation’ or ‘Bruhat Mysuru Mahanagara Palike’ by merging the urban local bodies on the outskirts of Mysuru like the City Municipal Councils and Town Panchayats.

HIGH COMMAND HASN’T SPOKEN

Earlier, Siddaramaiah dismissed speculations about a Chief Minister change – dubbed as the November revolution -  saying, "has the Congress High Command said anything about this? Why do you (media) keep talking about it repeatedly? The public isn’t talking but only you (the media) are raking up the issue.”

Siddaramaiah further said that he will visit New Delhi on 15 November after Bihar poll results to meet High Command. They are expected to discuss the Cabinet reshuffle then.
