Vijayapura, 14 OCT
Security forces have successfully thwarted a significant
Maoist plot by recovering a substantial cache of explosives in Karnataka’s Vijayapura
district. The operation, conducted by a joint team comprising Cobra 206, CRPF
229, 153, and 196 from Talpada Base Camp, took place in the KGB foothills area
on Monday at approximately 3pm.
During the extensive search, the team unearthed 51 live
bomb-making grenades (BGLs), 100 bundles of HT aluminium wire, 50 steel pipes,
40 iron plates, 20 iron sheets, and a large quantity of electrical wiring, all
indicative of potential plans to inflict serious harm on security forces.
Additionally, five pressure IEDs were discovered and safely detonated with
assistance from the Bomb Disposal team.
Ongoing patrols and search operations continue to ensure the
area remains secure. In a separate incident, an active cadre of KCP (PWG) was
arrested in Bishnupur, Manipur, along with an array of weapons and narcotics.
The arrested cadre, Moirangthem Mohen Singh, 42, is a
resident of Sagolband Tera Sayang Leirak, Imphal West.
The government had dissolved the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) earlier this year as the presence of Maoists had substantially been reduced.
