Caste survey questions need to be simplified: DK Shivakumar

Shivakumar said that the questions for the social and educational survey being
conducted by the Backward Classes Commission should be simplified, as he
flagged of the popularly known ‘caste census’ for the Greater Bengaluru Area on
Saturday.
When speaking to reporters at his
Sadashivanagar, he was asked about the need to simplify the survey questionnaire
as it had too many questions
“I also saw the questionnaire today, it
needs simplification. Patience is low in urban areas,” he said.
“The Court has ruled that these questions
are not mandatory and no one can be forced to respond. Providing a response to
some of these questions is optional. I have also told the interviewers to be
sensitive to the needs of the interviewed in Bengaluru city especially.”
He also appealed to people to participate
in the survey to provide justice to the future generations.
“The survey was conducted at my residence
today and I have provided all the details. I appeal to all communities to
participate in the survey and provide all the details,” he said.
Asked about many people refusing to
participate in the survey, he said, “It is our duty to educate them and we are
doing it diligently.”
Replying to a complaint that there are server issues for the survey, he said, “The people concerned will fix it. There is a provision to participate in the survey online as well.”
