Kolar, 4 Oct

Two teenage girls who went missing from their home on 2 October were found dead under mysterious circumstances in a well near Kuppam Palya under Mulbagal rural police limits, in Kolar district on Saturday.

The deceased girls, Dhanya Bai and Chaithra Bai, both thirteen years old, were studying in the 7th standard at a government school in Yelachepalli village. On 2 Oct, the two were playing in front of their house, when at around 3.00pm, Chaithra reportedly asked Dhanya to accompany her to attend nature’s call.

Both of them did not return, prompting their families to lodge a missing complaint with the police, who then launched a search. Police found their bodies floating in a well on Saturday.

Sources said that there was no reason for the girls to take such an extreme step, and police are probing all angles.
