Hassan, 30 Sept
A couple in Alur taluk, Hassan district,
Karnataka, sustained critical injuries in a suspicious explosion at their home
late on Monday evening. Sudarshan, 32, and Kavya, 28, suffered severe burn
injuries and were immediately transferred to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru for
urgent medical treatment.
Authorities initially suspected an LPG
cylinder blast, but police have not ruled out other potential causes.
Superintendent of Police Mohammed Sujeetha MS said the explosion occurred near
the washroom while the couple were working in a passage area of the house. The
complainant, Mohan Kumar, suggested it could have been either a
cylinder-related accident or linked to Sudarshan’s part-time carpentry work.
Police registered a case and launched a
comprehensive investigation. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, along
with specialist officers from Bengaluru, was dispatched to collect samples,
including chemical components, to determine the precise cause of the blast.
Sujeetha emphasised that the probe is not restricted to a cylinder explosion. Authorities are examining all possible factors, including household equipment and tools associated with carpentry, to ascertain the origin of the blast. The investigation remains ongoing while the couple continues to receive critical care in Bengaluru.
