One teenage girl died and four children were seriously injured when a wall collapsed due to heavy rains in Yadrami town around 2.30 am on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Sania Saipansab Tamboli, 16, of Yadrami town. The girl’s siblings, Mahibub Tamboli, Nishad Tamboli, Aisha Tamboli and Ramajanabi Tamboli were injured in the incident.

It is reported that the five were trapped beneath the wall, which collapsed in the heavy rains. While the children were rescued with minor injuries, Sania, who was seriously injured, was rushed to Yadrami Taluk Hospital, where she breathed her last.

Eyewitnesses said that no doctor in the hospital could treat her, which resulted in her death.

Various organisations staged a protest in front of the town community health centre on Monday, demanding the presence of Jewargi MLA Dr Ajay Singh in the town. They also said that Rs 25 lakh be paid as compensation to the deceased girl.

Yadrami Tahsildar Yallappa Subedar told Salar News that compensation of Rs 5 lakh would be paid to the family of the deceased girl within three days.
