MANGALURU, 13 SEPT

The Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) has dismantled a fake document racket involved in bail proceedings, arresting several individuals in the process. Acting on a tip-off on 9 September, the CCB discovered that the accused were using forged Aadhar cards and pahani documents as sureties in court to secure bail for those arrested in criminal cases.

"Several individuals have been arrested for their involvement in a fake document racket," stated Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy. He detailed that Abdul Rahman, arrested from the Urva police station jurisdiction, had facilitated court bail for accused individuals using fraudulent documents, while Nishant Kumar, employed at a computer centre, was responsible for producing these counterfeit documents.

Both suspects had allegedly impersonated real individuals by placing their own photos on fake Aadhar cards, successfully cheating the court in two cases. The investigation revealed additional accomplices, including Nitin Kumar and Hasan Riyaz, who used fake identities to obtain bail at local police stations. Mohammed Hanif was also arrested for providing fake documents to assist the accused.
