MYSURU, 20 AUG

The Yuva Sambrahma sub-committee has planned a novel initiative for this year's Dasara festival in Mysuru. Starting from 10 September and running until 18 September, the Yuva Sambrahma, which typically organises dance and music events hosted by college students, will kick off this year’s Dasara with various political and social development-themed events.

Student troupes from at least 20 universities will participate in the event.

The themes include recent newsy topics like the implementation of the guarantee schemes, women empowerment, law and order, addiction-free society, environment protection, human-animal conflict, traffic management and voting rights and democracy.

Other themes take a more cultural and historical significance, with themes such as folklore heritage, patriotic theme, unity in diversity, freedom struggle, and the unification of the Karnataka movement.

At least 300 students are set to perform.

The event will be held at the open-air theatre at Manasagangotri, the PG campus of the University of Mysore, from 10 September.
