A woman died in Kalaburagi after a wall of her house collapsed on Saturday due to heavy rain.

For the past one week, Afzalpur taluk has been witnessing heavy downpours, and the deceased, Lakshmibai Biradar, 55, of Bhosaga village was the latest casualty.

Reports indicate that already around 50 house walls have collapsed in the area after becoming soaked in rainwater.

“Due to continuous rainfall in the taluk, mud walls are getting soaked and collapsing,” Tahsildar Sanjukumar Dasar said, “People should remain cautious. Those living in old, dilapidated houses or mud houses are advised not to stay in them during rains”.

“I visited Bhosaga village and gathered details. The revenue inspector and village accountant are at the spot conducting the mahazar. Later, compensation will be provided to the family as per government guidelines,” he added.
