Mysuru, 9 Aug

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday inaugurated development projects worth Rs 1,107.72 crore in the Varuna Assembly segment, reaffirming his government's commitment to social empowerment through guarantee schemes and inclusive growth.

Speaking at a function held in Hadinaru, Siddaramaiah highlighted that the guarantee schemes were implemented to uplift the poor across all castes and ensure dignity, equal rights, and opportunities for all citizens. The government is spending Rs 55,000 crore annually on these schemes, which, he said, have boosted Karnataka’s per capita income. He noted that Karnataka is now the second-highest GST contributor after Maharashtra.

The Chief Minister thanked voters of Varuna and Chamundeshwari for supporting his political journey, having elected him five and two times respectively. He emphasised that his government has fulfilled 158 of the 163 promises made during its 2013–2018 tenure and has effectively implemented all five current guarantee schemes.

Chamarajanagar MP Sunil Bose praised Varuna voters for nurturing leaders like Siddaramaiah. MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah added that the Congress government is equally focused on large-scale development alongside the guarantee schemes.

Earlier in the day, Siddaramaiah, alongside KPCC President and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, laid the foundation stone for the Indira Gandhi Congress Bhavan near Mysuru Railway Station.

Siddaramaiah thanked former chief minister D Devaraj Urs for originally sanctioning the land nearly four decades ago and urged Congress leaders to contribute towards the building fund.
In response, senior Congress leader Premkumar, father of former Hunsur MLA Manjunath HP, handed over a cheque of Rs5 lakh to the CM for the construction of the Bhavan.
MLAs Harishgowda, Tanveer Sait, Ravishankar, MLCs Yathindra Siddaramaiah, K Thimmaiah, and Pushpa Amarnath were also present.
