KARWAR, 21 JULY

A tragic accident involving a private bus in the State early this morning has left one person dead and 21 others injured.

The deceased, identified as Vinayak Shinde from Hubballi, was travelling in a bus that plunged into a stream after crashing into a bridge near Agasur village in Uttara Kannada district around 3am. 

Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that the driver was engaged in reckless driving, losing control of the vehicle while attempting to avoid potholes. The bus overturned and fell into the stream, prompting rescue efforts by locals and police teams. 

While one male passenger tragically lost his life, the remaining 18 passengers sustained minor injuries and were promptly taken to a nearby hospital. Authorities used a crane to recover the bus, and further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
