Unani conclave highlights health needs

A one-day Unani Conclave on “Unani Innovations in Combatting Non-Communicable Diseases” was held at the National Research Institute of Unani Medicine for Skin Disorders (NRIUMSD), Hyderabad. The event was jointly organised by Hamdard Laboratories India and CCRUM, under the Ministry of Ayush.

 

 

Mr Mohammed Zubair of Hamdard Laboratories welcomed participants and highlighted the company’s commitment to scientific development and promotion of the Unani system.

 

 

Dr Srikanth Babu, Director, Ayush Department, Telangana, stressed the importance of traditional systems in addressing lifestyle diseases. “Ayush is showing results through natural, holistic care,” he noted. Dr Vasant Rao praised Hamdard’s efforts in making Unani medicine accessible and in providing key resources to practitioners.

 

 

NRIUMSD Director Dr Younus Munshi said lifestyle-related diseases require long-term Unani solutions rooted in education and research. He noted the institute’s focus on vitiligo and its partnerships with major research bodies.

 

 

Valedictory Chief Guest Shahnawaz Qasim, IPS, called for ethics and compassion in Unani practice. The conclave also featured technical sessions, student awards, and participation from scholars across South India.
