Pourakarmikas demand Mysuru ex-mayor’s Narayan nomination as MLC
Pourakarmika groups have urged CM Siddaramaiah to nominate former mayor Narayan as MLC, citing his 40-year advocacy for sanitation workers.

Various Pourakarmika associations have urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to nominate former mayor Narayan as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC). R Das, President of Mysuru Kolache Nivasigala Hokkuta, said that the association has requested Siddaramaiah to allocate one of the four MLC seats to Narayan as he had been a voice of the pourakarmikas for over 40 years. “As pourakarmikas, we are unable to contest elections. Hence, we appeal to the Chief Minister to nominate Narayan as an MLC to ensure our voices continue to be heard,” he said. Karnataka State Pourakarmika Maha Sanga’s district president S Nagaraju said that Narayan nomination will help us convey their grievances to the government more effectively. He also played a key role in rehabilitation of the urban poor living in slums and provided them with shelter.
