Constable dies by suicide inside C’ballapura police station

Rajashekar, a head constable at Manchenahalli Police Station, Chikkaballapura, died by suicide on 17 July; family issues are suspected.

CHIKKABALLAPURA, 16 JULY

Rajashekar, the head constable of the Manchenanahalli Police Station in Chikkaballapura district died by suicide in the changing room attached to the police station, on Wednesday. One of his colleagues found Rajashekar hanging and alerted others. Police sources said that he allegedly committed suicide owing to family issues. The victim, hailing from Jangamakote village, had spoken to his colleague, Nagendra Prasad on 15 July after returning from Hudugur where he had been on duty.  After returning from a routine duty, he headed for the changing room, where he ended his life. Sub-Inspector Murthy denied claims that Rajashekar took the drastic step because he had lost money due to an online gaming addiction.
