Three Udupi fishermen go missing at sea

Three fishermen are missing after their boat capsized near Baindur, Udupi due to rough sea. One escaped; Coast Guard search is ongoing.

UDUPI, 15 JULY

Three among four fishermen in Baindur taluk of Udupi district are missing after their fishing boat overturned in rough weather at the Arabian Sea on Tuesday morning. The missing trio has been identified as 40-year-old Suresh Kharvi, 38-year-old Rohit Kharvi and 43-year-old Jaganath Kharvi. Their companion Santosh Karvi escaped by swimming to another fishing boat that was in the vicinity. The fishing boat was overturned near the Madi Light House near Gangolli around 8am. The missing trio also could swim, but they could not reach the other boar because of rough sea, heavy rain and strong winds. The Coast Guard is continuing their search for the missing. However, there was no trace of them till 4pm, sources said.
