A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged from Mantaraghatta village in Davanagere district in the State where a man allegedly bit off his wife’s nose during a heated argument over loan repayment. The incident took place on 8 July and involved 30-year-old Vidya and her husband Vijay. During the dispute regarding a loan instalment, Vijay subjected Vidya to verbal abuse and physical assault. The situation escalated, leading to Vijay biting off the front portion of her nose. Local residents intervened and rushed Vidya to Channagiri Government Hospital for urgent treatment, after which she was transferred to Meggan Hospital in Shivamogga due to the severity of her injuries. Vidya has filed acomplaint against Vijay at the Channagiri police station, resulting in the registration of an FIR under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are actively searching for the accused.
