MURDESHWAR, 10 JULY

A fisherman died and another went missing after their boat capsized in the Arabian Sea off Murdeshwar, Uttara Kannada, on Thursday morning. Two others swam to safety. The deceased has been identified as Madhav Harikant, 45, while the missing man is Venkatesh Annappa Harikant, 28. Anand Annappa Harikant and one other crew member managed to reach the shore. All four were experienced fishermen who had gone to sea in a boat owned by Janardhan Harikant, despite warnings of rough conditions and high tide. The boat overturned a few nautical miles from the shore around 10am. A search operation is ongoing to locate the missing fisherman.
