HASSAN, 10 JULY

A 47-year-old man has been arrested in Holenarasipura taluk, Hassan district, for allegedly murdering his father and brother in a dispute over property, police said. The accused, Mohan Gowda, was reportedly angry after being denied a share of the proceeds from a recent property sale by his father, Deve Gowda, 70. In the early hours of Thursday, Mohan, allegedly intoxicated, returned home and attacked his father and elder brother, Manjunath Gowda, 50, with a sharp weapon, killing both. He then attempted to assault his mother, Jayamma, who managed to escape. Police have taken Mohan into custody.
