MANGALURU, 5 JULY

State police found more than 50 videos of people in compromising positions, including politicians in a Hindu leader's phone in Mangaluru and filed an FIR against him on Saturday.

Cops were investigating Samitraj Dharagudde, Mangaluru district co-organiser of Hindu Jagarana Vedike, in connection with a stone pelting incident on vehicles in the city recently. The accused is also allegedly a personal assistant of a politician from Dakshina Kannada or Udupi, who has not been named so far.

During the inquiry into stone pelting, cops went through his phone when they found several obscene videos involving politicians in compromising positions.

Inspector Sandesh said one of the videos was of a legislator from a costal district.

An FIR has been filed based on it by the Moodabidare police, who are trying to ascertain how he came to be in possession of the videos and whether he is involved in further crimes like coercion or blackmailing. The police said they are probing the case from all angles.
