Belagavi, 5 July

Police have filed a case against Santosh Jarkiholi, son of Gokak legislator Ramesh Jarkiholi, for firing a round of bullets in the air during the Lakshmidevi fair in Gokak town on Saturday. Belagavi Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled said that Santosh was found opening the fire in the air with a gun during the sixth day of the Lakshmidevi jatra where more than one lakh of people participated.  Since using a weapon in public places is banned, the police registered a case, he added. The Lakshmidevi fair is celebrated once every 12-years in Gokak town.
