Kolar, 3 July

Harish Babu, 30, a data entry operator at the E hospital wing of SNR District Hospital in Kolar, was found hanging in an OPD section early Wednesday. Harish, from Nayakarahalli in Kolar taluk, reportedly took the extreme step due to unhappiness over his recent marriage, registered on 2nd July.

Sources reveal Harish, employed for over 10 years, was in love with a colleague who urged him to marry. However, Harish avoided meeting her parents, causing tension. The woman, frustrated by his evasive behaviour, informed both families about their relationship. After a meeting of the families on 1 July, it was decided to register the marriage and hold rituals, which Harish was reluctant to.

The marriage was registered at the Sub Registrar’s office, Kolar. Harish travelled to his village with his mother before returning to the hospital, where he consumed liquor bought nearby and ended his life.
