Mysuru, 3 July

The Forest Department has suspended coracle boating and bathing in the Cauvery River at Hogenakkal Falls, Hanur taluk, Chamarajanagar district, for the past three days until further notice due to tourist safety concerns.

Following heavy water discharge from the KRS and Kabini dams downstream, boating has become risky, with previous drowning incidents prompting the ban.

Visitors can still enjoy the scenic beauty, trekking, the fish market, local cuisine, and other activities, but coracle rides remain prohibited, the Forest Department stated.
