Leopard attacks man in Chikkaballapur; caught by locals
The farmer sustained bite injuries and has been hospitalised at Gudibande.

After a farmer was attacked by leopard
while grazing his cattle in Kerehalli in Gudibande taluk of Chikkaballapur,
local villagers bravely helped forest officials catch the big cat. The farmer
sustained bite injuries and has been hospitalised at Gudibande.
The incident occurred around noon when the
farmer, Ramakrishnappa, went near the village pond to graze his cattle. As he
was collecting water for the cattle, a leopard attacked him. Although he managed
to escape, he sustained injuries on his face and left shoulder.
Following the incident, villagers, armed
with sticks and a net, searched the area and caught the animal with the help of
forest authorities using a net.
Ramakrishnappa who sustained injuries said
there were at least three leopards including a cub in the huge bush and two
were managed to escape.
Kanakaraj, DRFO Gudibande said they had
caught a two-year-old male leopard. They believed that a female leopard and a cub
in the area had managed to escape.
A team of experts from Bannerghatta National park arrived at the village and were taking steps to normalise the condition of the animal as it might be panicked after being caught, he said.
