Family of four dies in accident near Kunigal

A speeding mini truck on a wrong route rammed into a car near Kunigal, killing a family of four, including a 13-year-old boy, on Sunday evening.

TUMAKURU, 30 JUNE

 

A family of four, including a 13-year-old boy, lost their lives following a head-on collision with a speeding mini truck on the bypass near Kunigal on Sunday evening, police have reported.

The victims have been identified as Seebe Gowda, 50, his wife Shobha, 45, their daughter Dumbishree, 23, and son Bhanukiran, 13. The family was returning from dinner and was en route to drop Bhanukiran, a Class 8 student at Valley School, to his hostel near Bidanagere.

The accident occurred around 8pm when their car was struck by a Canter truck that was travelling the wrong way on a one-way road. According to police, both vehicles were speeding at the time of the impact, which was so severe that all four family members were killed instantly.

The driver of the mini truck has been arrested and charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
