Landslide disrupts train services in Sakleshpur
Landslide between Edakumari and Shiribagilu stations disrupted train services on the Sakleshpur–Subrahmanya Road stretch early Saturday. Several trains, including the Kannur and Murdeshwar Express, faced delays. Railways provided onboard support.

MANGALURU, 21 JUNE
Train services
along the vital Sakleshpur–Subrahmanya Road stretch in State faced disruption
in the early hours of Saturday due to a landslide between Edakumari and Shiribagilu
stations in Dakshina Kannada district, officials reported. Boulders from a hill
collapsed onto the railway tracks designated for cargo trains, leading to
delays in scheduled services.
Train No. 16511
KSR Bengaluru–Kannur Express, which arrived at Kadagaravalli at 3.40am,
experienced a delayed departure as a result of the obstruction. Similarly,
Train No. 16585 SMVT Bengaluru–Murdeshwar Express, reaching Sakleshpur at
3.10am, along with Train No. 07377 Vijayapura–Mangaluru Central Express
Special, which arrived at 6.26am, also faced delays.
In light of the
disruption, railway authorities provided affected passengers with drinking
water, light refreshments, and tea on board the impacted trains, according to
an official statement. Passengers have been encouraged to monitor real-time
updates for their trains via the NTES or ‘Where is My Train’ mobile
applications. For emergencies, they can contact @RailwaySeva on Twitter or call
the helpline number 139, as per the statement from Manjunath Kanamadi, Chief
Public Relations Officer of South Western Railway, Hubballi.
