Train services along the vital Sakleshpur–Subrahmanya Road stretch in State faced disruption in the early hours of Saturday due to a landslide between Edakumari and Shiribagilu stations in Dakshina Kannada district, officials reported. Boulders from a hill collapsed onto the railway tracks designated for cargo trains, leading to delays in scheduled services.

Train No. 16511 KSR Bengaluru–Kannur Express, which arrived at Kadagaravalli at 3.40am, experienced a delayed departure as a result of the obstruction. Similarly, Train No. 16585 SMVT Bengaluru–Murdeshwar Express, reaching Sakleshpur at 3.10am, along with Train No. 07377 Vijayapura–Mangaluru Central Express Special, which arrived at 6.26am, also faced delays.

In light of the disruption, railway authorities provided affected passengers with drinking water, light refreshments, and tea on board the impacted trains, according to an official statement. Passengers have been encouraged to monitor real-time updates for their trains via the NTES or ‘Where is My Train’ mobile applications. For emergencies, they can contact @RailwaySeva on Twitter or call the helpline number 139, as per the statement from Manjunath Kanamadi, Chief Public Relations Officer of South Western Railway, Hubballi.
