YADGIR, 17 JUNE

Manjula Gooli, former district women’s Congress president, has been arrested in connection with a fire set at the Congress office in Yadgir city. Police apprehended her in Bidar while she attempted to flee to Hyderabad. The incident occurred on 24 May when Gooli, unhappy with her removal from her position, allegedly conspired with her husband and a known criminal to ignite the office using petrol. CCTV footage confirmed the involvement of her accomplices, leading to her being taken into custody. The fire resulted in significant damage to office property, including furniture and appliances. The police have not ruled out further investigations into her associates and their motives regarding the incident, as concerns rise over the political tensions within local Congress leadership.
