Authorities report that the victim, originally from Bihar, had moved to Bengaluru just days earlier on 18 May after being lured into a relationship by Ashiq Kumar, a married factory worker with two children. During interrogation, the accused claimed that a heated argument escalated into violence, resulting in the girl’s death by strangulation at a relative's residence in Bommanahalli on the evening of 20 May.

After the murder, Kumar, along with accomplices, concealed the body in a suitcase and transported it in the car of one of the suspects, Mukesh, before abandoning it near the Chandapura railway bridge. Following the incident, the group fled to Bihar but were later located and arrested by police.

A murder case has been registered, and while the investigation continues, authorities are exploring the precise motive behind this tragic incident. The victim's father is a daily wage labourer with two wives and seven daughters, and the girl was the second daughter of his first wife.
