Miscreants set fire to the Yadgir district Congress office located near Kanaka Circle in Yadgir city. 

The incident reportedly occurred around midnight on Friday, when unknown individuals poured petrol and set the office ablaze.  

The miscreants brought about 20 litres of petrol in a can, which they left at the scene and fled.

Furniture, including sofas, air conditioners were completely destroyed in the fire, police said.

Upon hearing of the incident, the District Congress President along with other party leaders rushed to the spot and conducted an inspection.

Shankar Gooli, husband of former Mahiḷā district president of Congress Manjula, has been arrested for his alleged involvement.

Police are looking for another individual, Bapu Gowda, 55, who has managed to escape.

Authorities are working to determine the exact motive behind the vandalism.
