Bagalkot, 17 May
A wedding ceremony in Jamkhandi town of Bagalkot district turned tragic when the groom died of a heart attack just 15 minutes after tying the knot.
The incident took place at Nandikeshwara Kalyana Mantapa. The groom, Praveen Kurani, 25, a resident of Kumbarahalli village in Jamkhandi taluk, collapsed on stage shortly after completing the ritual of throwing rice grains (akshate) and tying the mangalsutra.
According to eyewitnesses, Praveen complained of chest pain before collapsing. His parents rushed him to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body has been sent for post-mortem.
Heart-wrenching scenes unfolded at the venue as family members were overcome with grief. The ceremony, meant to mark the beginning of a new life, ended in an unimaginable tragedy.
This incident adds to the growing number of heart attack-related deaths among young adults. In February, a 23-year-old woman died of a heart attack while performing at a sangeet in Madhya Pradesh. In December, a 14-year-old boy died while training for a school sports event in Uttar Pradesh.
