7 Bengaluru students among SSLC toppers

The Karnataka SSLC (Class 10) results for the academic year 2024–25 were
announced on Friday, with an overall pass percentage of 62.34 per cent. Girls
have outperformed boys once again, while urban students have outshone their
rural counterparts. 22 students scored the full 625/625 marks.
Announcing the results, School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu
Bangarappa said a total of 8.42 lakh students appeared for the SSLC-1 exam,
with 5.24 lakh clearing it. Among freshers, the pass percentage stood at 66.14
per cent.
In Bengaluru, several students celebrated stellar results. Jahnavi SN, a
resident of Girinagar and a student of Vijaya Bharathi School, scored a perfect
625 out of 625 marks. Speaking to Salar News, she said, "It is like a dream
come true. My teachers and parents were very supportive and had a lot of
expectations from me. I was a bit nervous because of that, but they always
stood by me. I want to become a scientist and plan to take the PCMB
combination."
Another topper, Yukta S from Holy Child English School, credited her success
to discipline. "I had been studying for over six hours a day. I want to
pursue science in college," she said. Other toppers from the city include
C Bhavana, Ranjitha AC, Dhanalakshmi M, Madhusudhan Raju S and Namitha.
Among districts, Dakshina Kannada topped the state with 91.12 per cent,
followed by Udupi (89.96 per cent) and Uttara Kannada (83.19 per cent).
Bengaluru Rural posted a commendable 74.02 per cent, while Bengaluru South and
North recorded 72.30 per cent and 72.27 per cent respectively. Mysuru managed
68.39 per cent, falling from the seventh position it secured last year to the
15th. Kalaburagi, at the bottom of the list, posted a dismal 42.43 per cent.
Tanya of Mysuru Bharathiya Vidyamandir and Dhanush from Marimallappa High
School were among the 22 students who secured 625/625 in the state, said DDPI
ST Javaregowda.
Girls clearly led the charge, with a 74 per cent pass rate compared to 58.07
per cent for boys. Urban areas recorded a 67.05 per cent pass rate, slightly
ahead of rural regions at 65.47 per cent.
Minister Bangarappa noted a major improvement from last year’s pass percentage of 53 per cent, attributing it to webcasting in exam centres, appointment of 13,000 guest teachers, and special classes in government schools.
