Former minister and BJP MLC H Vishwanath has
condemned the Karnataka government for its extravagant spending during a
special cabinet meeting held by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at MM Hills.
Speaking at a press conference at the Jaladarshini guest house, Vishwanath
claimed that the event wasted government funds, with considerable amounts spent
and a large police presence deployed.
He noted that previous chief ministers,
including SM Krishna and BS Yediyurappa, conducted similar meetings but saw
no tangible results. Vishwanath also opposed the government's plan to hold a
Cauvery Arathi event at the Krishnaraja Sagar Reservoir, allocating Rs 93 crore
annually, asserting that such events primarily benefit officials seeking to
exploit government funds.
Moreover, he expressed his disapproval of the proposed Rs 390 crore expenditure for white-topping city roads, suggesting that it would only facilitate misappropriation of funds by local legislators. However, he welcomed the government's decision to allocate 26 acres near Huyilalulu village for an international cricket stadium, highlighting its potential to promote sports and tourism.
