Karnataka celebrated a proud moment as two of its medical professionals secured top ranks in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024, the results of which were declared on Tuesday.

Dr R Rangamanju from Bengaluru secured All-India Rank 24, while Dr Sachin Basavaraj Guttur from Kodiyal village in Haveri stood at Rank 41, both making it to the top 50. “This was my fourth attempt. I feel relieved and blessed. I look forward to serving the country,” said Dr Guttur.

The UPSC announced that 1,009 candidates cleared the examination this year, with Shakti Dubey from Uttar Pradesh securing Rank 1.

In a story of perseverance, A Madhu from Iragasandra village in Kolar district cleared the exam with Rank 544 in his fourth attempt. The son of farmers Anandappa and Sushilamma, Madhu is a BSc Agriculture graduate who studied in a government school and later at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Chikkaballapur.

Madhu cracked the exam entirely through self-study without joining any coaching institute. Despite reaching the interview stage in three previous attempts, he persisted and finally succeeded this year with mentorship support and dedication.
