Two residents from Karnataka were among those killed in the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. Bharath Bhushan, a Bengaluru resident, was shot dead by terrorists while on a trip with his wife Sujatha and their three-year-old son, who were spared. BJP MP Tejasvi Surya confirmed speaking with Sujatha and said arrangements were being made to bring them back safely.
In another tragic incident, Manjunath Rao, 47, a businessman
from Shivamogga, was killed in front of his wife Pallavi and son. Pallavi,
speaking to local media, said the attackers told her to stay alive to relay the
incident to Prime Minister Modi.
The attack, which occurred in a popular tourist meadow near Pahalgam, left at least 26 dead and over 20 injured. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah
condemned the attack, convened an emergency meeting, and announced that two
state teams — senior officials and police — were dispatched to J&K. A
Sports Department adventure team led by Commissioner Chethan was also sent to
assist.
The victims’ families are being provided support, and
arrangements are underway to bring the affected back home. Friends and
neighbours gathered at the bereaved families’ homes to offer condolences.
