A accident near Lingasettypura Gate in Chikkaballapur taluk claimed the lives of a father and his four-year-old daughter on Saturday. Venkatesh, 30, and his daughter Deeksha, residents of Bandahalli village, died on the spot when a speeding container truck overturned and fell on their two-wheeler around 6 PM.

Venkatesh’s wife Roopa sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru.

The container, reportedly en route to Hyderabad, was entering the Bengaluru-Bellary National Highway when the incident occurred. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle was speeding.

Villagers have demanded the construction of proper service roads near villages to ensure safer movement along the highway.
