In a fiery attack on Congress government, Opposition Leader R Ashoka likened ruling party’s tax policies in State to "terrorist assaults" in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
He accused it of enforcing "Sharia law" under the guise of governance. On Monday, BJP leader said, "Just as terrorists strike in J&K, the Congress is launching a tax assault on the people of State." He claimed the recent fees imposed on garbage collection and parking in City reflect a "Tughlaq-style administration," where the government is both deaf and indifferent to public suffering.
Ashoka criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for being "absent in
governance" and accused Deputy CM DK Shivakumar of playing a "double
game"—appearing devout with temple rituals while allegedly "appeasing
one community."
He said the BJP’s ongoing campaign against the Congress’s price hike policies
has already forced political retreats, citing ministerial resignations and land
return orders in the MUDA scam as results of their struggle.
On the Waqf Amendment Act, Ashoka claimed that "nobody can bring in Waqf
laws just because someone demands it." He argued that earlier amendments
during the UPA regime led to land misuse, and that "the Constitution has
been changed 50 times by Congress; the BJP needs no lectures."
