Mysuru, 10 April

Mahavir Jayanthi was celebrated with great devotion and splendour in Mysuru on Thursday, as hundreds of members from various Jain associations took part in a grand procession.

The celebration began with an Abhishek Pooja at 7.30am at Mahaveer Bhavan, where devotees gathered to perform sacred rituals. A special Dharmasabha followed, featuring spiritual discourses on the life and teachings of Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism.

Over 3,000 people, including seven uniformed Mahila Mandal members, participated. Music bands and spiritual chants filled the air, while local shopkeepers distributed water, buttermilk, and juice to participants. Floral tributes were offered to Lord Mahavira’s portrait.

The event concluded with the hoisting of the Jain flag by Secretary Sri Kantilal Gulecha, Treasurer Sri Parasmal Sanghvi, and Youth Association President Sri Jay Salecha, among others.
