GANGAVATI, 3 APRIL

A private school teacher died after a live electric wire fell on her at Jangamara Kalgudagi village in Gangavati taluk on Thursday morning, police have said.

The deceased has been identified as Harita Srinivas, 26, a teacher at Sri Gotyipaati Venkatratnam Memorial School in Vidyanagar. She was walking to the pick-up point of the school bus after her father-in-law Purnachandrarao dropped her off on a bike when the live wire fell on her, killing her on the spot, police said.

Harita Srinivas is the mother of four-year-old twins.

The electricity department said the live wire broke because of heavy rains on Wednesday night.
