Dalit leader, aide murdered in Yadgir
Bhimarayanagudi police have registered a case and are investigating the motive of the murders and the identities of the assailants.

SHAHAPUR, 16 MARCH
A shocking double murder took place near Sadyapur village
in Yadgir, where Dalit leader Mappanna and his associate Alisab were killed in
two attacks. Bhimarayanagudi police have registered a case and are
investigating the motive of the murders and the identities of the assailants.
Superintendent of Police Prithvik Shankar said Mappanna was attacked around
9.30am near Sadyapur Cross, and Alisab, 52, ran away and hid himself at his
home in Madriki Mappanna. Rowdy-sheeter Huseni is suspected to have murdered
Mappanna, while the latter’s sons are suspected to have killed Alisab in
retaliation he said. In 2014, Huseni attacked Mappanna, who is accused in nine
criminal cases at Bhimarayanagudi Police Station. The Bhimarayagudi police are
investigat ing the murders, the officer said. After the murders, hundreds of
people gathered at the government hospital.
