Bahujan Samaj party state president M Krishnamurthy on Thursday accused that Congress government of not only betraying the SC/ST and Muslim communities but also backstabbing them by poor allocation of grants in its budget for the next fiscal presented on 7 March.

Representatives of Muslims said that the government did not allocate even one per cent of the total budget outlay for the community, which constituted nearly 16 per cent of the population in the state.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah claimed to have allocated Rs 42,000 crore, but diverted Rs  23,000 crore, they alleged.

The state also meted out injustice by allocating only Rs 488 crore to eight development corporations belonging to SC/ST communities, they said.

Krishnamurthy said the state government had announced 26 new residential schools, but it failed to ensure permanent teaching and non-teaching staff. Almost 90 per cent of its staffers are outsourced, leading to quality collapse, he said.
